Post–civil rights era in African-American history is the time period from the mid-1960s to the present day, during which African-Americans have continued to fight for rights and equality. During this time, African-Americans have faced many obstacles, such as racial discrimination, racism, and economic inequalities. Despite these challenges, African-Americans have been able to make great strides towards achieving racial justice, such as the election of Barack Obama as the first African-American President of the United States. The post-civil rights era has also seen increased attention to issues related to the African-American community, such as police brutality, health disparities, educational progress and social justice. This era has been marked by the continued struggle for full and equal rights for African-Americans across the United States.
