ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Post-Fordism

Post-Fordism is a system of production, consumption and distribution of goods and services that is different from the system of production developed by Henry Ford. Henry Ford's production system was called Fordism, which relied on standardized mass production techniques and the assembly line. Post-Fordism is based on ideas of customization and individualized production, meaning that goods and services are tailored to specific customer needs. Post-Fordism also focuses on technology, which allows for the use of computers and other digital equipment to increase production. Post-Fordism can be seen as an evolution of Fordism and allows for businesses to offer more customized products, rather than generic mass produced products.
