Postal codes in Mexico

Okay kiddo, imagine you're sending a letter to your friend in another city in Mexico. We need to give the postman some special numbers and letters so they know exactly where to deliver it. These special codes are called "postal codes."

In Mexico, postal codes have five numbers, like this: 12345. Each number tells the postman something important. Let's break it down.

The first two numbers show the state where your friend lives. Remember when we learned about the different states in Mexico? For example, if your friend lived in the state of Jalisco, the first two numbers of their postal code would be 48.

The next two numbers are for the municipality or city where your friend lives. This helps the postman narrow down exactly where to deliver the letter. So, if your friend lived in the Guadalajara municipality in Jalisco, the next two numbers of their postal code would be 44.

Finally, the last number tells the postman which neighborhood your friend lives in. This makes it even easier to find their house. For example, if your friend lived in the Colonia Chapultepec neighborhood in Guadalajara, the last number of their postal code might be 7.

So, when you write your friend's address on the envelope, you would include their postal code, like this:

Juan Perez
Calle Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez #123
Colonia Chapultepec
Guadalajara, Jalisco
44170

That way, the postman knows exactly where to deliver the letter and your friend will get your message!
