Alright kiddo, let's learn about something called Potter's Syndrome.
So, before a baby is born, they develop a special liquid around them called amniotic fluid. This helps protect them and lets them move around a little bit. But sometimes, something can happen that stops the baby from making or having enough amniotic fluid.
Potter's Syndrome is what happens when a baby doesn't have enough amniotic fluid. This can cause problems with how their organs and bones grow. Babies with Potter's Syndrome can have small lungs, and might not have enough of the kidneys or bladder needed to make pee. This sometimes means they are born without amniotic fluid or with very low levels of it.
Potter's Syndrome can also affect the baby's face. They might have eyes further apart than usual, and their ears might be lower down than they should be. These babies might also have a flat nose, and a chin that sticks out more than normal.
Sadly, Potter's Syndrome can be very serious and sometimes babies with it don't survive after they are born. But there are some treatments that can help - like machines that can help the baby breathe, and medicine that can help their kidneys work better.
It's important to know that Potter's Syndrome is not caused by anything the mom or dad did - it's just something that happens by chance. And while it can be scary, doctors and nurses will do their best to take good care of babies with it.
