ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Preflexes

Okay kiddo, let me explain preflexes to you. Imagine you're walking outside and you see a ball flying towards your face. Before you even think about it, your hands automatically shoot up to protect yourself. That quick reaction is called a preflex. It's like your body's way of protecting you without you even having to consciously think about it.

Our bodies have preflexes for all sorts of things. For example, if you accidentally touch something hot, your hand will quickly pull away before you even register the pain. This is because your body has a preflex to protect you from getting burned. It's kind of like a built-in safety feature!

So, preflexes are basically automatic reactions that our bodies have to protect us from danger or harm. They happen so fast that we don't even have to think about them - they just happen on their own. Pretty cool, huh?
