Prehistoric tsunamis

Hey there kiddo!

Do you know what a tsunami is? It's like a giant wave that goes really fast and crashes into the shore.

Well, sometimes a long time ago, before people wrote down history, there were tsunamis that happened during something called prehistoric times. This means it was before people could write things down to remember them.

Scientists study rocks, dirt and other things in the ground to learn about these prehistoric tsunamis. They think that some tsunamis happened because of earthquakes or volcanoes, which made big waves in the water.

Some of these prehistoric tsunamis were really big and could have caused a lot of damage. But luckily, there were no people, buildings, or cities in those areas at that time.

These tsunamis teach us a lot about our planet and how it works. Scientists study them so they can understand how to prepare for tsunamis that might happen in the future.

Did that help you understand better, kiddo?
