ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Pressure group

Imagine you and your friends want to change something in your school or neighborhood, like adding a new playground or making sure everyone recycles. But you're just kids, so adults might not listen to you. So, you decide to join forces and create a group called the "Playground Pals" or "Eco Kids" and work together to get your idea heard.

This is kind of like a pressure group! A pressure group is a group of people who want to change something in society or in the government, but they aren't in charge themselves. They create a group to put pressure on those in power to make the change they want to see.

For example, if a group of farmers want to make sure their land is being protected from pollution, they might form a pressure group called "Farmers for Clean Water." They gather together and use things like media, petitions, and protests to put pressure on politicians or the government to make laws or policies that will protect their land.

Pressure groups are important because they give people who might not have a lot of power by themselves a chance to have their voices heard. By working together, they can make a big impact and help change things for the better!
