Prevention of chronic traumatic encephalopathy

Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) is when the brain gets damaged because someone keeps hitting their head a lot. This can happen to people who play sports like football, boxing, or wrestling. The brain gets hurt because when someone gets hit, their brain moves around inside their head. Think of when you shake a jar with something inside - it gets jumbled up!

To prevent CTE, it's important to be safe when playing sports. That means wearing protective gear, like helmets and mouthguards, and getting checked by a doctor if you hit your head. It's also important to avoid hitting your head too many times - if you start to feel dizzy or weird, make sure you tell someone and take a break.

Researchers are also working hard to find ways to prevent CTE. They are studying the brains of people who had CTE to try and figure out how to protect people in the future. They are also teaching coaches and players about the dangers of hitting your head too much. So, if you want to play sports and have fun, always remember to be safe and take care of your brain!
