ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Proactive policing

Proactive policing means policemen and policewomen are looking out for signs that crime might happen in an area before anyone reports it. They might talk to people in the area to get information about what is going on, or they might patrol a street more often to make sure everyone is safe. It also means they will talk to people they think could be involved in suspicious activities so they can make sure they are following the law.
