Process engineering

Process engineering is the art and science of changing raw materials into products, usually using machines and chemicals. Process engineers work to make sure that products are made as safely and efficiently as possible. They need to understand how different materials and processes interact and use their knowledge to make sure that things are running smoothly. Process engineers may design and set up machines, plan production methods, work with chemicals, and develop safety procedures.
