ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Product defect

Okay kiddo, sometimes when a company makes something like a toy or a machine or even clothes, it might have something wrong with it that makes it not work the right way or makes it unsafe for people to use. This is called a product defect.

For example, if a toy has a part that can easily break off and someone could swallow it, that's a product defect. Or if a machine doesn't work right and could hurt someone, that's a defect too.

When a company finds out that there's a defect in something they've made, they usually take it back and try to fix it so it's safe for people to use. They might also offer a refund or a replacement for the defective product. Companies want to make sure that the things they make are safe and work well, so they try their best to fix any defects that they find.
