ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Product stewardship

Product stewardship is a way of making sure that products are made and used safely. If a company makes a product, like a toy, they have to make sure it is safe for people to buy and use. This means making sure that the toy won't break easily, isn't sharp, won't hurt people, and that the materials used are safe and won't harm people's health. To do this, they have to test the toy before it is sold and check that everything is okay. Product stewardship also means that when the product is no longer being used, it gets recycled or reused in a way that won't harm people or the environment. The company has to make sure that the product isn't polluting the environment, or that it can be reused or recycled in a safe way.
