Productivity (ecology)

In ecology, productivity is a measure of how many plants and animals can live in an environment. This measure is important because it helps scientists understand how different plants, animals, and their environment interact with each other. For example, an area with lots of plants and animals is often very productive, while an area with very few plants and animals is less productive. Many different things such as climate, soil, water, and other factors affect how productive an environment is. By measuring productivity, scientists can help manage land and resources better so that there are enough plants and animals in the environment to stay healthy and strong.
