Progressive download

Imagine you want to watch a video on the internet, but it's too big to load all at once. So, the video starts playing immediately while the rest of the video is still loading. This is called progressive download.

It's like when you open a present – you get to start playing with some of the toys right away, even if you have no idea what else is inside the box. With progressive download, you get to watch part of the video while the rest is still being downloaded to your computer or device.

This is possible because the video is divided into smaller chunks called "segments". Your computer or device downloads the first segment of the video, and as soon as it has enough data to play, the video starts playing. While you are watching the first segment, your computer or device is downloading the next segment.

This way, you can watch the video without having to wait for the entire thing to download. It's like eating a slice of pizza while waiting for the rest of your order – you don't have to wait for the whole pizza to be ready before you can start eating.

Progressive download is sometimes used for streaming services, like Netflix or YouTube, so you can watch shows and videos without having to wait for everything to download first. It's a handy way to access media quickly and easily, even if you don't have the best internet connection.
