Propeller walk

Okay kiddo, you know how a boat has a big propeller underneath that spins around really fast and pushes the boat forward? Well, sometimes when the boat is trying to go backwards, the propeller can actually make the boat go sideways instead.

This is called propeller walk! It happens because the spinning propeller pushes water in one direction, but the back of the boat is trying to go in another direction. This causes the water to push against the rudder at the back of the boat, which makes the boat turn.

Propeller walk can be a bit tricky to control, especially when the boat is trying to back up in tight spaces like a marina or dock. But experienced boat drivers know how to use propeller walk to their advantage to maneuver the boat exactly where they want it to go!
