Proposals for new Canadian provinces and territories
In Canada, there are some people who think that it would be a good idea to create new provinces or territories. These new areas would have their own government and would be a smaller part of Canada.
For example, some people want to create a new province called Northern Ontario. This would be the northern part of Ontario, which is currently a big part of the province. By making it a separate province, people who live there would have more say in how things are run and more control over their own resources.
Others want to create a new territory called Nunavik. This area is currently part of Quebec but has a lot of Inuit people who feel like they want more independence from Quebec. By creating a new territory, they would have more of a say in how things are run and more control over their own culture and resources.
