Proposed top-level domain

Ok kiddo, you know how websites have names like "google.com" or "facebook.com"? Well, sometimes people want a different type of name at the end of their website's name. Right now, we only have a few options like ".com" or ".org". But now there are some new options being suggested, like ".shop" or ".music". These are called "proposed top-level domains".

Imagine you're playing with toy blocks. You have the regular sized blocks, but now you want some special blocks that are a different shape or color. It's kind of like that. People want some special blocks to use for their website's name, so they're asking if they can have those special blocks. But just like with toy blocks, we have to make sure everyone agrees on what the special blocks should be and how they should be used.
