Kernel is like a brain for your computer. It tells your computer what do to and when. It helps the computer to understand the programs you use by converting them into instructions that the computer can understand. The kernel also makes sure that the different parts of your computer can talk to each other, so that a program can get the data it needs from one part of the computer and use that data to do something in another part.
