ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Proprietary church

So, a church is a special place where people go to pray and talk to their chosen god. Sometimes, churches are owned or run by specific people or groups. When a church is called proprietary, that means it is owned by a specific person or group and they have control over how it is run.

Think of it like a toy that you really like and play with all the time. If it belongs to you, you get to decide how you play with it, who gets to touch it, and where it goes. Similarly, if a church is proprietary, the owners get to decide things like who can come to the church, what they can do inside, and how they can worship.

It's important to remember that even though a church may be proprietary, it is still a place of worship and respect should be shown to those who run it.
