ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Proteolysis

Proteolysis is like cutting up big things (called proteins) into smaller pieces. It's kind of like cutting up a big sandwich into smaller pieces that you can eat more easily.

Your body uses proteolysis to break down the proteins from the foods you eat into smaller pieces called amino acids. These amino acids then get used for important things like building muscles, repairing tissues, and making new proteins.

Think of it like a big puzzle. Proteolysis helps your body take apart the puzzle pieces (proteins) and put them back together in new and useful ways.
