ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Protestant views of Mary

Well, you know how some people believe that Mary, the mother of Jesus, is really special? Protestants are a type of Christian that don't think Mary is more important than any other person. They think that God chose her specifically to give birth to Jesus, but after that, she's just a regular person like you and me.

Some Protestants might believe that we can ask Mary to pray for us, but she shouldn't be worshipped or prayed to like some people do. Instead, they think we should focus on Jesus and his teachings, because that's what really matters.

Basically, Protestants think Mary was important because of her role in giving birth to Jesus, but they don't think she's a saint or should be worshipped. They focus more on following Jesus himself.
