ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Pseudo-acronym

Okay kiddo, so you know what acronyms are right? They're when we take the first letter of a lot of words and use them to make a new word. Like NASA is an acronym because it stands for National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

Well, a pseudo-acronym is kind of like an acronym, but it's not really the first letter of each word. It's just a made up word that sounds like it could be an acronym. So, it's like pretending to be an acronym, even though it isn't.

Sometimes people do this for fun, or to make a word easier to remember. For example, the word SCUBA is a pseudo-acronym because it sounds like it should stand for something, but really it's just a made up word that means Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus.

So basically, a pseudo-acronym is like a pretend acronym, where we make up a word that sounds like it could be an acronym but isn't really one. Does that make sense, kiddo?
