ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Psychological punishment

Psychological punishment is when someone uses words or actions to make another person feel bad or ashamed for something they did wrong. It's like when your mommy or daddy says they are disappointed in you or gives you a timeout when you do something bad. But instead of using words that teach you how to do better next time, they say things that are mean or hurtful.

This type of punishment can make the person feel very sad or scared, and it might not even help them learn how to do better in the future. It's important for people to use positive ways to teach others how to behave properly, like telling them what they should do instead of just punishing them for what they did wrong.
