ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Public university

A public university is a kind of school run by the government. It's like a regular college, but anyone can go there, even if they don't have a lot of money. Some public universities are very large and famous, like the University of Michigan or the University of California. Other public universities are smaller and closer to home. But in all cases, a public university can offer classes and degrees, like math or history, at a lower cost than a private university.
