Public utility

Okay kiddo, do you know what a utility is? It's something that you use in your home, like electricity or water, to make your life easier. Public utilities are companies that provide these basic needs to everyone in the community, not just one person.

Imagine you and all your friends need water to drink and wash your hands. The city government hires a public utility to make sure that all of you have access to clean water. The public utility company makes sure that the water is clean, safe to drink, and gets to your house through pipes.

Public utilities often include things like gas, electricity, water, and sometimes even internet and phone services. They are called "public" because they are run by the government or are regulated by the government to make sure that everyone has access to the basic needs they provide.

Public utilities are important because they help make sure that everyone in the community has access to things that make life easier and safer. They are different from private companies because they are not trying to make a profit, but instead focus on providing a service that is necessary for people's everyday lives.
