Punjabi calendar

Okay little one, so you know how the days of the week are Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and so on? Well, in Punjabi language and culture, they have their own calendar with different names for each day of the week.

Their calendar is called the Nanakshahi Calendar, named after Guru Nanak, who is the founder of Sikhism. The Punjabi calendar starts on April 14th every year and has 12 months just like ours, but they have different names. For example, their first month is called Chet and their last month is called Phagan.

Now, Punjabi people like to celebrate different holidays and special occasions throughout the year, and their calendar helps them keep track of when those dates are. Some of their important holidays include Vaisakhi, which is also the Punjabi New Year, and Diwali, which is the festival of lights.

In addition to celebrating holidays, Punjabi people also use their calendar to plan things like weddings, birthdays, and other events. They want to make sure they are celebrating on the right day according to their calendar.

So that's the Punjabi calendar, little one. It's just a different way of keeping track of time and celebrating special days in Punjabi culture.
