Purl

Oh, hello there kiddo! So, today we're going to talk about something called "purl". Have you ever seen a sweater or a scarf that has little bumps on it? Those are called knit stitches. But opposite to those bumps, you can also make smooth stitches in knitting. These are called purl stitches.

To make a purl stitch, you need to insert the needle from the back of the loop towards the front, wrap the yarn around the needle, and pull the loop through the stitch on the left needle. This creates a nice and smooth stitch that looks different than the knit stitch.

Now, why would you use a purl stitch instead of a knit stitch? Well, different stitch patterns require both knit and purl stitches to create interesting textures and designs. So, by knowing how to do both, you can create all sorts of cool stuff from hats to blankets.

Does that make sense, kiddo? Do you have any other questions about purling?
