ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Pusher (boat)

Imagine a really big bathtub that you can sit in and float around in the water. Now, imagine that instead of using your hands or feet to move around in the water, you have a special stick that you can use to push the water and move yourself around. That stick is like the pusher on a boat.

A pusher boat is like a really big bathtub, but much bigger and made of metal. Instead of a stick, it has a big engine and a propeller that work together to push the water behind the boat and move it forward. This helps it move through the water more efficiently and makes it easier for the boat to carry heavy loads.

Pusher boats are often used for things like moving barges, which are like big flat rafts that carry large amounts of goods like coal or grain down rivers. The pusher boat is attached to the back of the barge and uses its engine and propeller to move both the boat and the barge safely along the river.

So, just like your stick helps you move in the water, the pusher on a boat helps the boat move through the water and carry heavy things safely.
