Pyramidion

A pyramidion is the pointy top part of a pyramid. Imagine you build a huge sandcastle and you put a little flag on the top. That flag would be like the pyramidion.

In ancient times, people would build pyramids as tombs for Pharaohs and other important people. The pyramidion would be the last part to go on top once the rest of the pyramid was finished. It was often made of shiny, expensive materials like gold or stone.

The pointy shape of the pyramidion was supposed to represent the pharaoh's journey into the afterlife. When they died, it was believed that they would climb a stairway to heaven, which is why the pyramid was shaped like a staircase too. The pyramidion was the final step in that journey, like reaching the very top of a mountain.

Nowadays, many of these ancient pyramids have lost their pyramidions because they were stolen or fell off over time. But some still have them, and they are a reminder of the incredible engineering skills and beliefs of ancient civilizations.
