Pytheas

Pytheas was a really curious sailor who lived long, long ago. He wanted to explore the world and understand how it worked. He looked at maps and saw that there was a big ocean to the north of where he lived.

He was very curious about this, so he decided to set sail and explore this northern ocean. He got into his boat and started to sail. He saw lots of new things along the way, like big floating ice mountains and strange animals.

Pytheas sailed farther and farther north until he reached a place where it was always daylight, never getting dark, and the sun went around in a circle instead of rising and setting. People thought he was crazy, but Pytheas insisted he saw it!

He also discovered that the ocean was connected to tides and the moon!

Pytheas was an important explorer because he discovered a lot of new things and showed other people that the world was bigger and more mysterious than they thought.
