Python (mythology)

Python in mythology is not related to the programming language called Python. Instead, Python is a giant serpent-like creature from Greek mythology. It is said that Python was born from the slime and mud left after the great flood, and it was considered an enemy of the gods.

Python was best known for guarding the oracle at Delphi, which was considered to be the center of the world. The oracle was where people would go to receive messages from the gods, but they had to first overcome the challenge of defeating Python to gain access to the oracle.
