ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Quantum dense coding

Quantum dense coding is a super cool way for two people to send secret messages to each other using just one quantum bit, or qubit.

Imagine I have a special box with two qubits inside, and I want to send one of them to you. When you receive the qubit, you don't know which one it is - it could be a 0 or 1.

Now, let's say I want to send you a secret message. I can use the qubit I still have to do something called "entangle" the two qubits. This means that whatever happens to my qubit will also affect yours, no matter how far apart we are.

Next, I'll change my qubit using a special trick that only works with entangled qubits. When I do this, your qubit will also change, even though I never touched it.

The changes I make can be very specific, so I can use them to represent letters or words. For example, a change in my qubit might mean "A", while no change means "B". When you see what changes have been made to your qubit, you'll know what message I'm sending you!

Overall, quantum dense coding is a fancy way of using entangled qubits to secretly send messages with just one qubit. It's like magic, but it's all explained by science!
