ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Question time

Question time is like when you're in school and you get the chance to ask your teacher anything you want. Except, question time is for grown-ups who are in government. They get to ask important questions to the people who are in charge.

When it's question time, all the people who are in charge sit in a special room called the parliament. Then, the grown-ups who have questions stand up and say "Excuse me, Mr./Ms. Speaker". The speaker is the person who is in charge of the parliament meeting.

After they say that, they get to ask their important question. The people in charge are supposed to answer the question honestly and try to explain it so that everyone can understand.

Sometimes, the grown-ups might disagree with each other or get angry, but they are still supposed to be respectful and listen to each other.

Question time is really important because it helps the grown-ups make good decisions for our country.
