Quiescent current

Okay kiddo, let me tell you about quiescent current! Whenever we use a gadget like a mobile phone, we want it to be ON whenever we need it, so we can make calls or send messages. But when we are not using it, we want it to take less energy so that the battery lasts longer.

So, quiescent current is just like that. It's the amount of energy a gadget uses when it is switched ON but not doing any work. Just like when you are sitting in your room doing nothing, you are not using much energy, but if you completely switch off the light, then you are using no energy at all.
