ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Quinquagesima

Quinquagesima is a fancy word used by some churches to describe the period of time right before the season of Lent starts. Think of Lent as a really important time of year when people try to be very good and think a lot about God.

Now, before Lent starts, there's a special time called Quinquagesima. It happens exactly 50 days before Easter. This special time reminds people to get ready for Lent, kind of like warming up before doing some exercise. During this time, people might go to special church services, pray more than usual, and think a lot about what they want to get out of Lent.

So to sum it all up, Quinquagesima is just a fancy word for a special time of year that reminds people to get ready for Lent, when they try to be very good and think a lot about God.
