Quotient type is a way of dividing one thing into smaller pieces. It's like when you divide a pizza into pieces. Each piece is a different size, and it takes a certain number of pieces to make up the whole pizza. That number is called a quotient - it tells you how many pieces you have in total. You can use quotients to divide up any kind of number or thing. For example, if you have 8 friends and you want to split a cake 8 ways, the quotient would be 8. Each friend would get one piece of the cake.
