ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

RAM drive

A ram drive is like a really fast and special storage area on your computer that helps programs run faster. It's a place where your computer can quickly store and retrieve information that it needs to use right away.

Imagine you have a toy box with lots of different toys in it. Every time you want to play with a new toy, you have to dig through the box to find it. It takes time and slows you down from playing with your toys.

Now, imagine you have a special shelf right beside you where you can keep your favorite and most used toys. You don't have to search for them every time you want to play with them. They're always right there within arm's reach, ready for you to use.

That's what a ram drive is like for your computer. It's a special place where frequently used data is stored so that programs don't have to search through long lists of information, making them run faster and more efficiently. The best part is that it's temporary, so once you turn off your computer, everything stored in the ram drive disappears – just like putting your toys back in the toy box.
