RECLAIM Act

Okay kiddo, so have you ever heard of land being taken away from Native American tribes a long, long time ago? It was really unfair and it meant that these tribes lost their homes, their cultures, and their way of life. The Reclaim Act is a law that tries to make up for that by giving back some of the land that was taken from Native American tribes so that they can start to rebuild and take care of it again.

Just like when you play with toys and sometimes you have to share them with your friends, the United States government is supposed to share some of the land with Native American tribes. The Reclaim Act helps make sure that this sharing happens and that the tribes have a say in how the land is used. This way, they can protect their histories and their traditions, and also use the land to make a better future for themselves and their families.
