Ok kiddo, so you know how we have phones and computers that can send messages and talk to people far away? Well, a long time ago there were no phones or computers, so people had to come up with other ways to talk to each other when they were far apart. One man, named Guglielmo Marconi, discovered a way to send messages through the air!
He used something called radio waves, which are kind of like invisible fingers that wiggle really fast. By wiggling these radio waves, he could make them travel through the air to a special radio receiver, which could then turn the wiggles back into a message that someone could hear or see.
So, just like when you and your friends talk to each other through cups connected with a string, Marconi used radio waves to send messages over long distances. This was really important because it meant people could talk to each other even when they were too far apart to shout or use flags or lights.
Marconi's discovery was so amazing that it changed the world and led to the development of things like radios, TVs, and even cell phones!
