ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Raid on Drvar

Okay, so imagine you have a toy car collection and you want to make sure nobody takes any of your cars. You decide to put your cars in a special box with a special lock so only you can open it. That way, if someone tries to take your cars, they won't be able to get in the box because only you have the key.

Now, imagine your toy car collection is actually a group of soldiers who need to protect an important area. In 1944, during World War II, a group of soldiers called the Partisans were trying to protect the town of Drvar in what is now Bosnia and Herzegovina. But the enemy soldiers, called the Axis powers, were trying to take control of the town.

So, the Partisans decided to raid the Axis soldiers who were nearby. To raid means to sneak up on them and try to surprise them. They came up with a plan to attack an important building where the Axis soldiers were staying.

The Partisans snuck up on the building and started shooting at the Axis soldiers. The Axis soldiers were caught off guard and didn't have time to defend themselves. The Partisans were able to take over the building and capture many of the enemy soldiers.

This was an important victory for the Partisans because it weakened the Axis powers and helped protect the town of Drvar. It's like if someone was trying to take your toy cars, but you were able to surprise them and protect your collection.
