ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Rain dust

Rain dust is a type of precipitation that falls from the sky. It's made up of small particles of dust and dirt that have been carried into the atmosphere and then fall back to the ground with the rain. The particles can come from a variety of sources including natural events like dust storms or volcanic eruptions, or they can be caused by human activities like pollution.

Think about making mud pies in the rain. When you mix dirt with water, it becomes muddy and messy. Now imagine that the rainwater is picking up tiny specs of dirt and dust as it falls from the sky. When the rain hits the ground, it brings this dirt and dust down with it.

Rain dust can be harmful to breathe in because the particles are so small that they can get deep into your lungs and cause health problems. That's why it's important to take steps to reduce pollution and keep the air as clean as possible.
