Raised pavement marker

A raised pavement marker is a little reflector button that gets glued onto the pavement of roads so that drivers can see where they are going. These markers come in all sorts of different colors, but the most common ones are white or yellow. They're called "raised" because they kind of stick up from the road just a tiny bit, so drivers can feel them through their tires and know that they're staying in their lane. At night, when it's dark out, the markers reflect the light from the car headlights so that drivers can see where they're going even better. It's kind of like having your own personal guide to help you drive safely on the road!
