ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Rammed Earth

Rammed earth is like playing with wet sand to make a sandcastle, but instead of using buckets and shovels, people use big machines to compress dirt into a strong wall. This dirt can literally be the same dirt you step on outside! The process starts by mixing the dirt with a bit of water, then packing it into a big frame that has a flat bottom. Someone uses a machine called a tamper to push down hard on the dirt, it squishes into a solid block. They keep layering and tamping until the wall is as high as it needs to be. When it's dry, the dirt becomes super strong, like a rock! This is called rammed earth, and it's used to build houses, walls, and even big buildings that will last a really long time.
