Rat Park was an experiment in which rats were placed in either a cage that was small and cramped, or in a larger cage that was full of interesting and colorful things to explore. Scientists wanted to see if having space and interesting things to do would make a difference in the rats' behavior. The results showed that the rats in Rat Park were much less likely to turn to addictive substances compared to the rats in the small and cramped cages. This experiment showed that environment and physical surroundings can have a major influence on behavior.
