Realism (arts)

Realism in the arts means creating things that look like they do in real life. So, let's say an artist wants to paint a picture of a flower. Realism means the artist will try to make the painting look exactly like the real flower. This means that the colors will be the same, and the texture will look like the real flower. In literature, realism means that the writer will describe things just as they would be in the real world. For instance, if they are writing about a park, they will describe the trees, flowers, and animals in a way that is realistic. The goal of realism is to make art as close to real life as possible.
