ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Reduplication

Reduplication is when you repeat a word or part of a word to make a new word. It’s like saying “go-go” instead of just “go.” Some languages use reduplication more often than others. Sometimes, reduplication can change the meaning of the word. For example, “big” becomes “big-big” to mean “very big” or “small” becomes “tiny-tiny” to mean “very small.” So, when you say a word twice, it can mean something a little bit different than just saying it once!
