Redware

Redware is a type of pottery. Imagine you are playing with clay like you do in school! Redware is pottery that is made out of clay that has a redish color. This red color happens when the clay is heated in an oven or a kiln. Do you remember when you made mud pies outside and let them dry in the sun? Well, redware is sort of like that, but made with special clay and heated up to make it strong. People have been making redware for a long time, even before grown-ups like you and me were born! They would use it to make things like plates, bowls, and jars that you might use in the kitchen. Sometimes, people even decorated the redware with different shapes and colors to make it look fancy. So, redware is basically just a kind of pottery that is red and people like to use because it is pretty and useful in their homes.
