Refresh rate

Okay kiddo, have you ever played a game or watched a video on a computer or TV? You know how the pictures move really fast and smoothly? The number of times those pictures change every second is called the refresh rate. It's like a movie that's made up of a bunch of pictures, and the refresh rate is how many pictures you see in one second.

Imagine you're drawing a picture with a pencil. You draw one line, and then you draw another one right next to it, over and over again. The faster you draw those lines, the smoother the picture looks. That's kind of like how a screen refreshes its picture, but really really fast, like thousands of lines in just one second.

Now, if the refresh rate is low, like maybe only 30 times per second, the picture might not look as smooth, kind of like if you draw those lines really slowly. But if the refresh rate is high, like 120 times per second, the picture will look super smooth, like if you draw those lines really quickly. This is why people who play games or watch fast-moving videos like sports or action movies, like a higher refresh rate, because it makes the picture look better and less blurry.
