Remission (medicine)

Have you ever had a cold or a fever before? When you get sick, your body can feel really yucky and not work the way it usually does. But, after a few days or weeks, you start to feel better, right? That’s kind of like going into remission!

Remission is a big word that doctors use when talking about people who have a disease like cancer or diabetes or arthritis. When somebody has a disease, their body isn’t working the way it should be, and they might be feeling really bad. But if they start getting treatment and taking medicine, their body can start to feel better and work the way it’s supposed to again.

When somebody is in remission, it means that their disease isn’t making them feel bad anymore! They might still have to take medicine or go to the doctor to make sure they stay healthy, but they’re feeling a lot better and their body is mostly working the way it’s supposed to.

Being in remission is really good news - it means that the person with the disease is winning the fight and starting to feel like themselves again!
