A remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV) is a machine that is used to explore the ocean. It looks like a mini submarine and is operated by people who stay on the surface, but control it from afar—just like a remote control car! The ROV is able to go deeper into the ocean than people can, allowing us to explore and learn more about this mysterious world. It is also able to take pictures and videos, grab samples of the sea floor and measure things like the temperature and salinity of the ocean.
